Some have speculated that these are the plow marks of seafloor farming by aliens. If there really are little green men hiding somewhere, the ocean’s not a bad place to do it. One theory that’s gained more traction is that these marks might be the ruins of the lost city of Atlantis. Pihak yang diserang, yang mempunyai persenjataan yang jauh dari memadai, digambarkan begitu superior yang siap-siap memangsa para penyerang ini, walaupun kenyataan berkata sebaliknya.

Penggambaran-penggambaran seperti di artikel itu bukanlah barang baru. Kita sering membaca artikel yang serupa dengan itu, terutama menyangkut nasib para tentara Amerika yg sekarang bertempur di Irak dan Afghanistan. Pernah ada di suatu program tv CNN yg membahas tentang Afghanistan. Dalam 30 menit, pembahasan Afghanistan didominasi oleh interview dengan tentara-tentara amerika. Mereka menceritakan begitu susahnya, begitu stressnya mereka di sana, tanpa memberikan waktu yg cukup untuk mewawancarai penduduk lokal Afghanistan yang sebenarnya sering menjadi korban serangan dari tentara-tentara ini. Jelas ada motif di sini. Salah satunya bisa jadi untuk menarik para pemirsa tv agar lebih bersimpati dengan tentara-tentara ini.

Kalo melihat ke belakang, ambil contoh kita berada dalam situasi agresi militer Belanda. Sebuah media membuat satu acara untuk membahas agresi Belanda dan acaranya ini didominasi oleh wawancara dgn tentara-tentara Belanda yg berkeluh kesah dalam melawan para pejuang Indonesia. Begitu capeknya, begitu stressnya tentara Belanda ini melawan para pejuang, tanpa membahas bagaimana penderitaan rakyat Indonesia yg sebenarnya menjadi korban dari tentara-tentara itu. Apakah itu fair? tentu saja tergantung sudut pandang.

Begitulah rasanya kalau Tukang Berita ketemu dengan artikel-artikel semacam itu.
